Clue #1 of 4

Some time between 1200 BC and 400 BC, people living in Mexico carved giant stone heads such as the ones found in the photo. They were carved from huge basalt boulders, some quarried in the Tuxtlas Mountains and others from basalt found on San Martin Volcano. The largest of these heads was found in the state of Mexico that is just east of another state named after a spicy pepper. In which state was the largest head found? HINT: Look in the southern part of Mexico where it is most narrow between the Atlantic and Pacific.
